A scene of panic this Thursday, October 10 in downtown Grenoble. Shortly after 10 a.m., gunshots were heard at the intersection of Cours Berriat and Cours Jean Jaurès. “Around ten shots”, according to a passerby. This is an armed attack on an armored van, according to the Isère prefecture. Another witness adds: “A cash conveyor van was hit by a white van, it was followed by two Mercedes cars. Men got out of the vehicles with heavy weapons. Exchanges of fire followed.” If the van managed to continue on its way, it would have been taken away by at least one Mercedes, according to this same witness who observed everything.
Two minor injuries
Two impacts are visible on the white van, which caught fire at the intersection of the two streets. Firefighters quickly intervened to put out the flames. According to the Grenoble public prosecutor, “There are two minor injuries linked to road accidents caused by the event and by a shattered glass. No one has died”.
The intersection of Cours Jean Jaurès and Cours Berriat is closed to traffic. The trams are also at a standstill. The Isère prefecture advises avoiding the area.
