Furthermore, the CEO of SNCF, Jean-Pierre Farandou, was interviewed by the deputies meeting in committee on October 2 at the National Assembly. In a situation of virtual shutdown due to work in the Drôme, the Paris-Briançon night train was mentioned. The company’s CEO placed the blame on the state for the equipment used on the line: “ If it wants to develop night trains, the State will have to invest in rolling stock and locomotives. The one that the SNCF currently uses (…) is running out of steam “. Jean-Pierre Farandou, who should leave his place next year, hopes for future investments “ to carry out the necessary work and put new equipment into service by 2030 » for the Winter Olympic Games in particular.

Paris-Oulx not before the start of spring 2025

Also on the program during this commission, the Paris-Milan which notably passes through Oulx. A starting and arrival point which interests the Briançonnais but which no longer works since the landslides in the Maurienne valley a little over a year ago. “ We plan to reopen the line in March or April 2025 » announces Jean-Pierre Farandou. The CEO explained to the commission in particular that the tunnel passes through a mountain with crumbly rock, which complicates the work to secure the installation.
