EasyJet makes Geneva the bottom of European airports

Passengers have been waiting in Geneva for twenty-nine hours to board their EasyJet flight to London. The initial good mood gave way to exasperation tinged with despair. Originally scheduled for a Monday in July 2024 at 11:10 a.m., their plane was first delayed until late in the afternoon due to a fuel leak, before being canceled because the airline could not reach not to charter another aircraft. During these long hours, passengers were only entitled to a voucher of 3.40 francs. Some, including a frail elderly gentleman, had to make do with a packet of chips.

The passengers were then offered a night in a hotel next to the airport, with a new departure time set for Tuesday 4 p.m. But when they arrived at the airport, they learned that this flight had in turn been delayed until 9 p.m. “We lost two of our four days of vacation,” fumes a lady traveling with three friends. On the ground, no sign of an airline representative. The flight finally took off shortly before 10 p.m., thirty-five hours after the original departure time. During this second day of ordeal, the passengers received nothing to drink or eat.
