Anabelle has found her sport again!

Indigo color bearer, Anabelle Bonneau is excited, feverish. Maybe even more than the majority of her other teammates.

Do you remember Anabelle? His story made the headlines The Voice of the East last February. Because she was of junior age, but there was no junior women’s team in the Granby region, the young woman from Stanbridge Station had asked to play an additional season at the midget level, but her request exemption had been refused by Hockey Estrie and Hockey Québec.

But today, Anabelle has found a smile again at the same time as she has rediscovered the sport that makes her tick.

“Life is so much more beautiful now,” she says. As much as I trained last season, it wasn’t the same. I missed hockey so much. But here, I’m on the ice every day, I have good teammates, I have fun!”

Anabelle, who will soon be 19, is happy to see the interest there is in women’s hockey in Granby.

“Apparently there will be quite a few people at the arena on Saturday evening. It’s fun. It might be a special evening. We can’t wait to play at home, we can’t wait to be supported by our people.”

Women’s hockey is popular, we know that. We only have to look at the crowds attracted last season by the Montreal professional league team, which will now bear the name La Victoire.

“There is room for women’s hockey. We are a first-year team, but we are doing well, we are offering quality hockey. People are curious about the product, I invite them to come and see it at the end of the week.”

Indigo has two meetings with its new audience this weekend. There is the opening game at 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, then another game on Sunday, starting at noon, both times on Ice C and both times against the Hockey Training Institute.

Good stress

Yes, the Indigo girls are excited thinking about the weekend to come.

“There is stress, but it’s good stress,” continues Anabelle Bonneau. We all want to do well, we all want to be up to the task and demonstrate that we deserve the support of hockey fans here.”

Anabelle defines herself as a defensive attacker. Her coach, Kosta Alivizatos, speaks of a skater whose hard work often provokes mistakes from opponents.

We can’t wait to see her and the others.
