SENEGAL-AFRICA-NOMINATION / Senegalese Coumba Sow, new United Nations resident coordinator in Togo – Senegalese press agency

Dakar, Oct 9 (APS) – Senegalese Coumba D. Sow has been appointed to the post of United Nations resident coordinator in Togo by Secretary General António Guterres, we learned on Wednesday from an official source.

This appointment took effect on October 5 with the approval of the government of the host country, we read in a note published on the official website of the United Nations.

Coumba D. Sow has 20 years of experience in the field of development and humanitarian aid.

She was previously Representative of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in Rwanda and Djibouti, and served as Emergency and Resilience Coordinator for the West Africa and the Sahel.

The new UN Resident Coordinator in Togo has held other senior positions within the UN system, including that of Head of Africa in the Office of the Director-General of the FAO.

During her professional career, she has also worked on agricultural and rural development policies in Africa, Asia and Latin America.

Coumba D. Sow holds a Master’s degree in public policy management from Sciences Po , a postgraduate degree in Agricultural Economics from the University of London and in Agro-industries in ().
