and Île-de- placed on orange alert, a major flood expected in Seine-et-

The torrential rains which fell this Wednesday on Île-de- confirm the forecasts of Météo-France, which placed the region on orange rain-flood vigilance this Wednesday, until 3 a.m. Thursday October 10.

The Kirk depression is expected to bring very significant amounts of rain throughout the day across the entire region which should increase until tonight from Wednesday to Thursday.

Risk of flooding of the Grand Morin river in Seine-et-

In certain areas of the region, Météo-France announces accumulations which could approach 100 millimeters in twenty-four hours. Particularly in Seine-et-Marne where the Grand Morin river could reach a level close to four meters and cause record floods. Météo-France has also placed the area on high orange alert.

According to Vigicrues, the forecast precipitation will equal approximately a month’s worth of rain in the space of one day and we can expect “an increase in the level of the section from midday”.

Wind gusts up to 50 km/h

Gusts of wind are also expected at the end of the day throughout the region, particularly in Essonne, and Seine-et-Marne where we could experience gusts of wind with peaks of 50 km/h.

Thus, the parks and gardens of Greater Paris Seine Ouest, which brings together the municipalities of Boulogne-Billancourt, Chaville, Issy-les-Moulineaux, Marnes-la-Coquette, , Sèvres, and Ville-d’Avray, are closed since 11 a.m. this Wednesday.

This is also the case in Val-d’Oise, in where the city has closed its parks and gardens.

Public transport likely disrupted

In Paris, if the city has not yet closed the parks, the town hall calls on residents to be careful, and to move away from “waterways and low points” and to avoid entering the roads submerged “even partially”.

Disruptions could also be seen in public transport in Paris and Île-de-France. On its website, Transilien warns and announces that “heavy rain from the Kirk depression risks disrupting traffic” in the Ile-de-France region. Several RER or Transilien network stations as well as certain metro stations could be flooded and become inaccessible.
