The foot of the most wanted Frenchman in Europe found on a beach in Charente-Maritime

He is considered the French fugitive “the most wanted in Europe” by Europol. However, Cyrille Picard’s foot was found on a beach in Charente-Maritime in February 2023. Aged 54, Cyrille Picard has been on the run since May 2022 and the death of his daughter.

Célia, 10 years old, was discovered strangled by her older brother, in the burned family home, in Veigy-Foncenex (Haute-Savoie). The public prosecutor’s office indicated that the victim’s parents “were in the process of separating” and that “the mother was absent from the home” that day.

Untraceable after the discovery of the body, Cyrille Picard quickly became the main suspect in this crime. Since then, he has been seen in Charente-Maritime, notably in Meschers-sur-, where his vehicle was found.

“A disturbing discovery”

But a discovery “disturbing” puzzles the investigators responsible for the case. A human foot, found in a shoe by walkers in February 2023, would belong to Cyrille Picard, confirmed Line Bonnet-Mathis, public prosecutor of Annecy, to Bleu Pays de Savoie.

“This is a disturbing discovery, but it does not lead to the closure of the legal proceedings. It does not allow us to affirm or deny the death of the suspect. The investigation is therefore still in progress. continues the prosecutor.

The arrest warrant maintained

Especially since the suspect, born in Charente-Maritime, has certain survival skills: “Without being a total survivalist, he is someone who has a fairly significant capacity to live in isolation,” explained Line Bonnet-Mathis, during the “Most Wanted” campaign, led by Europol in January 2024.

“The body part found is not lethal, so investigations are continuing. The arrest warrant is maintained and we are still trying to locate him,” a conclu Line Bonnet-Mathis.
