A trade project between Dakar and Bamako launched in Tambacounda

A cross-border trade project aimed at facilitating trade between Mali and Senegal was launched in Tambacounda (east) for the benefit of many traders

The project is part of the activities implemented by the West Africa Trade Facilitation Program (WATF), funded by the European Union and the government cooperation agencies of Germany and the United States of America. America.

The FEAO covers nine ECOWAS countries. It is implemented on the main trade corridors of the member countries of this regional organization.
The cross-border trade project launched in Tambacounda takes into account the Dakar-Bamako corridor.

It is intended mainly for women carrying out commercial activities between the two countries, according to the FEAO.

Training programs

One of the components of this project targets women traders […] It is a category of people often abandoned to their own devices, it is a category of actors who regularly cross the border between Mali and Senegal, to buy goods or resell products,” explained Mounirou Aliou Kane. , the training manager at the West Africa Trade Facilitation Program.

Two hundred women will benefit from six weeks of training in Tambacounda and Kidira (east), thanks to the FEAO, through this project, according to him.

“We have set up training of 13 modules which will allow traders in the corridor to know what they will need in terms of regulations […] and communication, at the border level, to better carry out their activities,” noted Mr. Kane.

A group of 100 traders benefiting from the project will be formed in Tambacounda, another in Kidira, according to the training manager at the West Africa Trade Facilitation Program.
