The Minister of Microfinance and the Social and Solidarity Economy, Dr Alioune Badara Dione, chaired this Tuesday, October 8, 2024, the first edition of Senegal’s economic and commercial meetings, which are taking place in Thiès. This event, organized by the Association for the Promotion of Entrepreneurship in Senegal / Women of Senegal, brought together economic actors around a common objective: the socio-economic development of the country.

During the official ceremony, Dr Alioune Badara Dione expressed his satisfaction at participating in this meeting: “I am delighted to find myself among you to contribute with all the services of my Department to the success of this first edition of the economic meetings and trade of Senegal. » He also praised the association’s commitment to promoting entrepreneurship and contributing to the development of Senegal.

The minister highlighted the efforts of his department to support economic players in structuring projects. “Since I took up my position at the Ministry of Microfinance and the Social and Solidarity Economy, my teams have worked tirelessly to support economic actors in development projects, as well as in major initiatives like the one that brings us together. »

The minister stressed that the actions undertaken are in line with the government’s vision, carried by Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko, aiming to establish an economic model focused on import substitution.

He also encouraged participants to consult the National Development Strategy document, which reflects the vision of a “Sovereign, Just and Prosperous Senegal.” » According to him, this strategy is crucial to meeting the challenges of building an endogenous economic model, which is based on responsible and socially committed financing.

“You and the brave great ladies whose activity you coordinate are already committed to achieving the objectives of this National Development Strategy, through the promotion of endogenous and sustainable development,” he declared, welcoming the association’s efforts to contribute to the systemic transformation of the country. He added that the commitment of the participants demonstrates their ownership of the national strategy, which will soon be presented by the President of the Republic.

Dr Dione also encouraged the participants to co-construct the economic transformation of Senegal: “My department calls on you to co-construct, with you, this systemic transformation of the economic environment of Senegal. » He highlighted the Jub Jubal Jubanti project, emphasizing the importance of an approach based on the identification of financing needs linked to projects with strong social and economic impact.

The minister insisted on the paradigm shift that he wishes to establish in his department: “This paradigm shift will put an end to the irresponsible distribution of public resources. » He affirmed his desire to harmonize microfinance and the social and solidarity economy to generate decent jobs and inclusive wealth.

As part of this dynamic, Dr. Dione expressed his hope for the partnership between his ministry and the association: “We dare to hope that the partnership which has just been established between your organization and my department will be more fruitful for the exclusive benefit of the populations. » He also promised support for initiatives even in the most remote areas to guarantee an inclusive, just and prosperous Senegal.

The minister recalled that “We are all condemned to succeed in this challenge, no other choice is allowed to us. »
