There are ten of them. Ten candidates to covet the five positions now vacant from the Saint-Julia municipal council. In any case, this is what the Haute-Garonne prefecture reveals in a document reporting the applications registered as part of the first round of voting in this complementary municipal by-electionscheduled for this Sunday, October 13, 2024.

That day, the approximately 300 voters registered on the lists of this small village in Lauragais will have to choose one to five names among the ten they will face. Objective ? Complete the municipal meetingreduced almost by half after the resignation of five elected officials since the start of the mandate.

The list of ten candidates

As a reminder, candidates for the position of municipal councilor had the choice here – as in any election taking place in the majority plurality vote – to present themselves alone or on a list. The status of the applications as communicated by the prefecture does not, however, provide any details on the nature of the latter, the details of which are as follows:

  • Rosemary Besson
  • Séverine Carrat
  • Sylvain Charue
  • Benoit Delord
  • Sébastien Duranton
  • Khaled Fezzani
  • Marie-Christine Monnoyer
  • Cyrille
  • Bénédicte Pellerin
  • Georges Peyssou

A possible combination of different names

As mentioned previously, voters will be able to vote for one, two, three, four or five candidates (maximum) – i.e. the number of seats to be filled – during this first round of voting. But let them not be surprised to see the same bulletin mention several names.

“In the case of grouped applications, the same ballot includes the names of several candidates,” information is provided on the Government website vie-publique.fr. Voters have the possibility of crossing out names (or adding them, editor’s note), this is the variegation. In all cases, votes are counted individually. »

Single and group applications

This is what should be offered to the people of Saint-Julian this Sunday, October 13. Because if Georges Peyssou has indeed declared himself alone, the other candidates have chosen to form lists or in any case to regroup in order to “pool their efforts and their communication”. This is the case of Rosemary Besson, Séverine Carrat, Sébastien Duranton and Khaled Fezzani. “We have formed a list of individual candidates in order to propose an alternative,” said the first of them to Voice of Midi Lauragais.

An “alternative” to the other list, supported by the mayor Christian Lagentewhich brings together Sylvain Charue, Benoît Delord, Marie-Christine Monnoyer, Cyrille Narbonne and Bénédicte Pellerin. “I did not completely achieve the objectives that I had set for myself when I was elected in 2020. So, to complete this mandate, I looked for people with selfless motivation, active in community life and likely to help me. help to continue and carry out the projects of the campaign program”, comments the councilor, interviewed by us.

Polling station open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

An election with high stakes for the village of Saint-Julia since it involves choosing the team that will be able to ensure the end of the mandate. “Whatever the obstacles and difficulties, I will follow through on the commitment I made in 2020», adds Christian Lagente.

Please note that the polling station will be open, for this first round of voting, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. If necessary, the second round will be held on Sunday October 20, at the same times.
