This Tuesday, a heavy goods vehicle transporting fresh fruit was involved in an accident on the A11 motorway, between the Ancenis toll and the Chalonnes-sur-Loire exit (Maine-et-Loire). This incident caused significant disruption for motorists, report our colleagues at West France.
The accident happened around five o’clock this morning. The exact circumstances remain unknown, but the heavy goods vehicle involved ended up crossing the tracks. An hour later, traffic was interrupted for users traveling in the direction of Angers/Paris.
Traffic severely disrupted
A diversion has been put in place at exit 20 in Ancenis. However, as entry to this portion of the highway was prohibited, motorists had to be patient in order to continue their journey. Drivers coming from Nantes were forced to take the RD723 to return to the Chalonnes-sur-Loire interchange to bypass the accident and join the A11 motorway.
The accident site was completely cordoned off to ensure the safety of the responders. The operator of the section, Vinci Autoroutes, has assured that it will do its utmost to resolve the situation as quickly as possible. After emergency services intervened and the truck was evacuated, traffic was able to resume normally at the start of the afternoon.
