He also highlighted political stability and the quality of Morocco’s legal and regulatory framework, which offer favorable conditions for attracting international investors. “Morocco’s hydrogen offer is a perfect illustration of this attractiveness,” he added, noting that several French companies have already responded to calls for tenders in this sector.

Unique natural assets for Morocco

Mestrallet also highlighted Morocco’s many natural assets, including powerful and regular wind patterns, abundant sunshine, as well as vast spaces available for energy infrastructure.

The Kingdom’s geographic proximity to Europe is another key factor, helping to reduce the costs of transporting green hydrogen to consumer markets. “Morocco is the producer closest to European consumption areas, a major strategic asset,” he said.

A promising future for energy cooperation

For Gérard Mestrallet, “Morocco is today the place to be” to support the global energy transition. Thanks to this double Momentum, political and energy, Morocco is establishing itself as a strategic hub for the development of green hydrogen and renewable energies, with France as a partner of choice.
