Several hundred people voted. The municipality of L’Isle-Adam (Val-d’Oise) has just revealed the five participatory projects chosen by the Adamois for the first edition of its participatory budget.

Five projects

With a budget of €80,000, its goal was to involve the Adamois in the construction of their city.

“It was a way of initiating a little more democracy, social cohesion and a way of encouraging everyone to participate and take an interest in the public domain,” explains Sébastien Poniatowski, mayor (Lr) of Isle-Adam.

For three months, all residents, aged at least 14, were able to submit their proposal. They were studied by a steering committee to verify their compliance with the municipality’s specifications.

Thirteen proposals were thus selected, among the twenty submitted in areas such as the environment, heritage or sport.

Votes were then open from Monday September 2 to Sunday September 15, 2024, via ballot boxes or through the municipality’s website and its application. 677 people took part. A good participation for Sébastien Poniatowski.

Their choice fell on five projects. At the top of these elections: the construction of wooden structures to protect one of the banks of the ponds of the small plain. A project initiated by Pierre Mignon, member of the office of the L’Isle-Adam fishing association. He had noticed that the erosion of one of the banks could jeopardize the safety of walkers and damage fishing stations.

This renovation will involve the installation of protection called fascines made up of wooden posts in the water, connected by wooden braiding. The whole will then be filled with soil and aquatic plants will be placed there to promote biodiversity. Cost of the operation: €19,500

The four other projects are: armchairs and chairs for the city’s parks and gardens (€11,800), marking and the use of urban equipment to encourage passers-by to practice sport (€10,000), a autonomous defibrillator (€5,000) and the creation of two islands in the cemetery (€3,156).

The mayor assures him that all projects will be carried out during the year 2025. A second edition of the participatory budget will see the light of day with the same sum of €80,000. “This time, the objective will be to exceed 1,000 voters,” enthuses the councilor.
