After the assassination of Philippine, a student found dead in the Bois de Boulogne, and the wave of emotion raised by this tragedy, the Council of Paris will observe a minute of silence Wednesday October 9, 2024 in his tribute.

A minute of silence respected at the National Assembly

Her body was found partly buried in the Bois de Boulogne after a hunt organized by her relatives who were worried about not seeing her return. Philippe, 19, was a brilliant student at Paris-Dauphine University, involved with the Scouts and Guides of France.

The funeral of the young woman was held on Friday September 27 in Versailles (Yvelines) and brought together more than 2,500 relatives and anonymous people who came to support the family. At the National Assembly, deputies and members of the government also reflected, Tuesday October 1, by respecting a minute of silence before the general policy declaration of Prime Minister Michel Barnier.

A few days after her disappearance, a 22-year-old man suspected of being behind the young woman’s death was arrested in Switzerland. Placed under OQTF (obligation to leave the territory) after a rape committed in 2019, he was released from detention on September 3, 2024. Circumstances which relaunched the debate on the application of the sentence in France.
