Received by Bourita, a senior executive of the South African presidential party pleads for rapprochement with Morocco

In a statement to the press following these talks, Mr. Bapela called for an intensification of economic and commercial relations between his country and Morocco.

The South African official, also a member of the Executive Committee of the ANC, invited Moroccan companies to invest in South Africa like many South African companies, which, according to him, are already established in Morocco.

At the multilateral level, Mr. Bapela welcomed Morocco’s return to the African circle, a space where the two countries “can work together to meet the challenges facing Africa.”

On another note, the vice-president of the International Relations Committee within the ANC recalled the support provided by Morocco to South Africa’s struggle for independence, adding that the Kingdom was among the first countries visited in 1994 by South African leader Nelson Mandela after his country’s independence to express thanks to the Moroccan people for their contribution to the liberation of South Africa and explore ways to further strengthen bilateral relations.
