Hockey: Antti Törmänen is back! He joins the Swiss Federation

The Swiss Ice Hockey Federation (SIHF) announced on Monday morning that it had hired Antti Törmänen (54) as a part-time mentor for Talent level coaches in the U17 and U20 categories. The Finn had been inactive professionally since the end of his adventure at HC Bienne in 2023, because his gallbladder cancer had returned.

“My state of health has improved, so that it is now possible for me to work again at 25%,” said the technician in the SIHF press release. I look forward to passing on my experience to the next generation of coaches and supporting them in their development.”

At the Federation, Antti Törmänen will find a familiar face since he will work closely with Thomas Zamboni, video coach of HC Bienne between 2017 and 2024 and now Education Director of the SIHF.

“Antti’s experience and skills are a perfect fit with our strategy to promote coaches in performance sport,” said Thomas Zamboni. With his support, we want to support the coaches who play a key role in the training of our upcoming athletes.”

The collaboration between Antti Törmänen and the SIHF begins this Monday and will operate on a mandate basis.
