The emergency services were called to intervene shortly after 9 a.m. on Saturday for this accident on the A19 motorway towards Ypres. According to the findings of the traffic expert, a vehicle entered the wrong direction on the road and then violently collided with the car of this Hennuyère family.

2 accidents on the same day

On Saturday morning, the 25-year-old suspect, originally from Menen, had already been involved in another accident in this locality, according to the prosecution. The public prosecutor also indicated that the day before the accident, the suspect had appeared before a police court.

The ghost driver was also taken to hospital after the accident on the A19, but her life was not in danger. After being presented on Sunday evening to an investigating judge for these latest facts, she was placed under arrest warrant. A more in-depth investigation will still have to determine the exact circumstances of the facts. The Ypres Indictment Chamber will decide on Friday whether the arrest warrant is extended.
