WEATHER REPORT. Lozère, and Ardèche on orange rain-flood alert, a Cévennes episode is taking place

Lozère, Ardèche and will enter orange rain-flood vigilance from 10:00 p.m., Monday October 7, 2024, Météo-France announced in its 6:00 a.m. bulletin.

“During the night from Monday to Tuesday, an active rainstorm episode will affect the Cévennes regions. The precipitation will be intense and could lead to accumulations of around a hundred millimeters in three to six hours. per episode (approximately twelve hours), it is expected from 150 to occasionally 200 millimeters” of rain, details the meteorological agency.

Rain will affect the southern foothills of the Cévennes throughout the day. Some light rain will affect the seaside and coastal plains Hérault and Gard this Monday. In the interior plains, rains are of moderate intensity and heavy in the Cévennesparticularly in the department of Ardèche.

During the night from Monday to Tuesday, the Cévennes episode strengthened. The precipitation becomes intense and stormy, still mainly in the Cévennesbetween the North of Gard, South of Lozère and Ardèche. “They end up temporarily reaching the eastern plains of Hérault and those of Gard, usually at the end of the night or early in the morning. A very intense rainstorm line between 5 a.m. and 8 a.m. or between approximately 6 a.m. and 10 a.m., according to infocccitanie.

The end of the alert in these three southern departments is scheduled for Tuesday around 10:00 a.m., according to Météo France.
