An arson fire leaves two dead in a night grocery store in : the manager and a motorist who tried to save him

The tragedy occurred on the night of Sunday October 6 to Monday October 7 around 3:30 a.m. in a business located at 117 rue du Pas-du-Loup in .

Two lifeless bodies were found, charred, by Hérault firefighters who were responding to a commercial fire on the night of Sunday October 6 to Monday October 7 in Montpellier.

It was in fact around 3:30 a.m. when firefighters and national police officers were called to a burned-down business, located at 117 rue du Pas-du-Loup, a stone’s throw from the Marcel-Cerdan gymnasium in the Pas-du-Loup district.

Car embedded at the entrance

When emergency services arrived, they discovered a car buried at the entrance to this convenience store ravaged by flames.

After evacuating the residents living above, they entered the establishment and found a first body. Then a second, a few minutes later in the car.

Trapped inside

According to the residents who raised the alarm, numerous distress calls had previously been heard coming from inside this night grocery store.

So much so that a motorist decided to rush his car into the front door of the said business to help the trapped person. But his vehicle caught fire in turn.

A man with a can in his hand

Blocked in the passenger compartment, the driver died. He was 30 years old. According to initial investigations, the second person found dead within the business would be the manager, aged 70.

Everything suggests that it was arson. An individual having been seen, just before the establishment caught fire, with a can in his hand. Did he act alone? It’s too early to tell. An investigation is underway.
