It was a passer-by, present on the Quai du Maréchal-Foch, in Melun, this Monday, September 30 in the morning, who saw the body of a man floating in the Seine. It was drifting near the Maréchal-de-Lattre-de-Tassigny bridge.
According to “The Republic of Seine-et-Marne”, this man would have voluntarily thrown himself into the water. Retrieved by divers from the Departmental Fire and Rescue Service of Seine-et-Marne (Sdis 77), who tried to revive him by giving him cardiac massage, he was pronounced dead.
The privileged theory of suicide by drowning
Everything suggests that he had decided to end his life, track favored by the police in the Melun Val de Seine district. Indeed, this man, aged around 70 years old and who resided in an accommodation establishment for dependent elderly people (Ehpad), wrote a letter in which he clearly implied that he was going to commit suicide. Still according to “La République de Seine-et-Marne”, he had canceled all his medical appointments and had tidied up his room. An autopsy was to be performed to definitively remove the last doubts.
