Dakar, Oct 6 (APS) – The former Senegalese head of state, Macky Sall, formalized his resignation from his post as special envoy of the Paris Pact for People and the Planet, explaining that he had made such a decision through a desire to avoid any conflict of interest after he decided to return to the Senegalese political field, six months after his departure from the presidency.
The president of Senegal between 2012 and 2024 made this known in a letter dated October 4 addressed to the French head of state Emmanuel Macron. The French leader had appointed Macky Sall to this post following his departure as head of the Senegalese state.
”As you probably know, the circumstances of Senegalese political life, following the dissolution of the National Assembly, led me to be nominated head of the list of the Takku Wallu Senegaal coalition for the legislative elections scheduled for November 17, 2024 ”, wrote the former Senegalese head of state in the letter of which the APS obtained a copy.
”Under these conditions, and to avoid any risk of incompatibility and conflict of interest, I would like to bring to your kind attention that I have decided to withdraw from my activities as Special Envoy of the Paris Pact for people and the planet from October 9, after the Hamburg summit on sustainability for which I had already made commitments,” added Macky Sall.
