“we had to be talkative about commitments to get Senegal out of this bad situation”

The president of the Alliance for Citizenship and Work (ACT), saying he has warned of “difficult tomorrows” for Senegal for years, however, questions the new actions carried out by the Diomaye Faye regime. In the program “Grand Jury” on Rfm, Abdoul Mbaye challenges the way adopted by the government to express itself on the situation of public finances. “I have the feeling that we accuse too quickly. There is always this anticipatory charge procedure. We have the impression that we want to give blood to the people at all costs. We must be more calm because justice does not need unnecessary publicity. Let her do the correct procedure…” indicated the former Prime Minister who considers that we must wait for definitive validations concerning this economic situation portrayed by the government.

Abdoul Mbaye also indicated that Senegal is heading towards a difficult future considering that Senegal experienced the last moments of Macky Sall in suffering. But “we are heading towards much more difficult times with structural adjustments. “We cannot function without calling into question subsidies, particularly those for energy. This has already started at the level of customs, tax adjustments, the State treasury is no longer able to pay the internal debt, reduced or eliminated subsidies will lead to an increase in energy, transport, etc. when you don’t have the budget which doesn’t allow you to cover expenses, you resort to this structural policy which risks doing a lot of damage,” added the ACT leader.

What is intriguing according to the former prime minister is “this incapacity of the current regime to find urgent solutions to the current difficulties”. A situation far from reassuring according to Abdoul Mbaye, inviting the president and his team to change their tune.
