Arthur Dénouveaux, victim of November 13, remembers the first commemorations of the attack in 2016 and the political forces who did not have the opportunity to express themselves. In Israel, the leaders have succeeded in dividing the victims when only they can allow us to renounce revenge.

In 2016, when the attacks of November 13 were commemorated for the first time, a double necessity arose, that of involving the political forces who wished to participate in the ceremonies but without giving them the opportunity to express themselves. So propose to them to show their solidarity, in their name and that of the institutions they represented, but without offering them a blank check on the use they could make of public emotion. This balance has been maintained until today and has undoubtedly contributed to allowing justice and collective memory to advance free from political interference.

As the first sad anniversary of the October 7 attacks in Israel looms, the reality there is quite different. Israeli political representation has succeeded in dividing and therefore neutralizing the community of victims. And further pushing its advantage, Israeli leaders took the opportunity to prevent any united front by hostage families and to highlight the stories of survivors and their families to best serve their justifications for the war.
