The State Council found the request valid. It is now effective. There French nationality was stripped of the civil status of the alleged perpetrator of the attack near the Bir-Hakeim bridge, in Paris, on December 2, 2023, according to a decree published in the Official Journal published Tuesday October 2, 2024. That day, a person was death and two others wounded during a knife attack.

Already known to anti-terrorism

Quickly, the investigation for assassination and attempted assassination was oriented towards a single profile: that ofArmand Rajabpour-Miyandoaba Franco-Iranian born in 1997 in Neuilly-sur-Seine (Hauts-de-Seine). He is accused of killing a German-Filipino tourist. The man was already known to the anti-terrorism services for his conversion to radical Islamismlined with psychiatric disorders.

In 2016, the courts had already sentenced him to four years in prison for having “planned violent action”, before being released in 2020. For several years, he had been living with his parents in Essonne.

This withdrawal of French nationality, which he had acquired, is part of a legal arsenal which only includes cases linked to terrorism. People born with French nationality cannot be stripped of their nationality.
