Crif “strongly deplores the declaration” of Emmanuel Macron

Emmanuel Macron called on Saturday to stop deliveries to Israel of weapons used in Gaza, arousing the anger of the Israeli Prime Minister two days before the anniversary of the October 7 attacks. Exchanges quickly took on the appearance of a crisis between the two countries.

The Crif has “deeply deplored” Saturday evening Emmanuel Macron’s remarks on stopping deliveries to Israel of weapons used in Gaza, ensuring in particular that they “encouraged rebellious in its radicalism and its strategy of chaos in public debate”. “CRIF strongly deplores the declaration of the President of the Republic calling for an embargo against the weapons used by Israel in the war against Hamas. Calling to deprive Israel of weapons is not playing the game of peace, it amounts to playing the game of Hamas and Hezbollah!”castigated the Representative Council of Jewish Institutions of France on the social network X.

“This declaration on the eve of the anniversary of October 7 hurts all those who are committed to the fight against terrorism. It also encourages rebellious France in its radicalism and its strategy of chaos in public debate.he continued. Friday, the leader of rebellious France Jean-Luc Mélenchon called for “put Palestinian flags wherever possible” starting Tuesday, the day after the anniversary of the Hamas attack in Israel.

Jean Luc Mélenchon launched this call in reaction to a circular from the Minister of Higher Education Patrick Hetzel on the “maintenance of order” in universities on the eve of October 7. Monday marks the first anniversary of the unprecedented attack by the Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas on Israel, which caused shock in the country and sparked war in the Gaza Strip. This has since spread to neighboring Lebanon, against its ally, Hezbollah.

The death toll from the October 7 attack stands at 1,205, mostly civilians, shot, burned alive or mutilated according to an AFP count based on official Israeli figures, including hostages who died or were killed in captivity in the Gaza Strip. Of the 251 people kidnapped during the attack, 97 are still hostages in Gaza, including 64 believed to be alive. In retaliation, Israel launched a military operation that has so far killed at least 41,825 people in Gaza, mostly civilians, according to the Hamas-led Gaza government.
