Belgium reaffirms its attachment to friendship and the Strategic Partnership between the EU and Morocco – Le7tv.ma

Belgium once again reaffirmed this Saturday its attachment to the friendship and the Strategic Partnership between the European Union and the Kingdom of Morocco, following the decision of the Court of Justice of the EU (CJEU) on the agreements of fishing and agriculture between the EU and the Kingdom. The Belgian Government has expressed its unwavering desire to continue working to deepen this bilateral relationship which, over the years, has become a central pillar of Euro-Mediterranean cooperation.

Thus, the Kingdom of Belgium expressed, to this end, its support for the joint declaration of the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen and the High Representative of the European Union, Josep Borell, in which the two officials reaffirm the EU’s commitment to further preserving and strengthening its close relations with Morocco in all areas, in accordance with the principle “pacta sunt servanda”.

This partnership, described as strategic, reflects a long history of close collaboration between Morocco and the EU, where Belgium plays an important role as an influential member of the Union. This cooperation extends well beyond economic exchanges to include areas as varied as security, the fight against terrorism, migration, sustainable development and human rights. Morocco, recognized for its key role in the region, is seen by Brussels as a first-rate partner, both for the stability of the Mediterranean basin and for the security of Europe.

The Belgian Government, aware of the mutual benefits that this partnership has brought to both shores of the Mediterranean, continues to advocate for its strengthening in a spirit of respect, cooperation and openness. Belgium actively supports efforts to consolidate trade agreements, particularly in the agricultural and fishing sectors, while working for constant dialogue on political and strategic issues.

Beyond economic issues, Belgium recognizes Morocco’s crucial role in regional security, particularly in the fight against extremism and terrorism, and appreciates the Kingdom’s efforts to promote peace and stability. Morocco, as a stable country and model of development in North Africa, is considered by Belgium as a strong ally in the dynamics of regional and international cooperation.
