Pas-de-Calais. Four people, including a child, died trying to cross the Channel

New drama on the coast. This Saturday, October 5, 2024, four migrants, including a two-year-old child who died in Pas-de-Calais during an attempt to cross the English Channel.

The facts are distinct. According to our colleagues at franceinfoan overloaded boat requested assistance in the morning. Fourteen people were on board. The child would obviously have died “crushed” according to details provided by Jacques Billant, prefect of Pas-de-Calais and Guirec Le Bras, public prosecutor of Boulogne-sur-Mer, during a press conference.

The three other victims were on board another boat, they were also “crushed, suffocated, drowned”. It is about two men and a woman aged around thirty.

The Ministry of the Interior, Bruno Retailleau, spoke of a “terrible tragedy” in a text published on the social network [avaient] the blood of these people on their hands.”

The number of migrants who died at sea in 2024 now stands at around fifty.
