authors, shows and workshops for a magnificent 15th children’s book festival

The 15th Children’s Book Festival returns this October 5 and 6 and offers a slightly different formula from previous years. Authors, workshops, shows are on the program

In principle, nothing changes. The two bookstores come together for a weekend, to offer an exceptional moment to young readers. Works are planned for all age groups.

On the program, authors and illustrators came to present their work, their books, albums…, but above all present to meet their audience, exchange ideas, and introduce their world.

The two booksellers did not hesitate to bring in their favorites for the greatest pleasure of young audiences, but also parents, families and all fans of children’s literature. We will therefore find Félix Bacq-Brillet, Eve Gentilhomme, Laura Hédon, Laure Van Der Haeghen, Annick Masson, Hélène Mercier, Anne Théréné, Bernard Villiot, Fabienne Blanchut and Denis Labbé.

Stands, activities, authors…

This year, the associations used to the event will of course be present. There will therefore be a stand for the Vauban bookstore, another for the Etoiles Vagabondes bookstore, another for the association “Chat Lit Chat Dit”, but also the presence of a publishing house, “Du Pas de l’ Echelle”, or the Mots et Merveilles association.

Visitors will also be able to discover an exhibition on the theme of Manga.

Among the events not to be missed, we note a musical debut with the brass quintet of the Conservatory teachers, on Saturday October 5 at 11:40 a.m., the Conte meetings with the Mots et Merveilles association, always on Saturday at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. and notes and words with the storytellers of “Chat lit Chat Dit” and harpist Justine Jumez-Caro, Saturday at 2:30 p.m.

Throughout the weekend, some authors will offer workshops, but also local associations and city stakeholders, with Secteur 7, Idem+Arts, the Zoo, the Maison de la Famille, the Antre du Plateau, the Cité Geometries, the Municipal Media Library and even the Green Spaces service.

It is essential to register to be sure of having a place in one or other of the workshops. The entire program is available on the town of Maubeuge website and registrations can be made at the Municipal Media Library.

A displaced event

Usually, this festival takes place at Porte de Mons. Please note, regulars should know that the Festival will be held at the Town Hall. The place is easily accessible for PRMs and strollers, for parents. Opposite the zoo, the new location of the event will allow certain families to have a great day.
