A serious accident occurred Friday evening at the Toulouse-Est tollbooth on the A68 motorway which connects Toulouse to Albi. The toll is heavy: 1 dead and 2 injured. A man is taken into custody.
The accident was violent according to firefighters. Two cars collided, shortly before the A68 toll gate in the Toulouse-Albi direction, Friday evening at 10:30 p.m. A van hit a car for circumstances that remain to be clarified.
When help arrived on site, two victims were trapped in the metal sheets. Firefighters and SAMU perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
The toll is heavy: a man around 20 years old died. He was a passenger in the car hit by the van. A 25-year-old man was in absolute emergency, according to the firefighters’ first assessment, and a 28-year-old man was in relative emergency.
The driver of the van causing the accident was taken into police custody.
The intervention mobilized 18 firefighters, SAMU, police, gendarmerie and teams from Vinci Autoroutes. The highway is closed in the direction of the accident while emergency services respond.
