The prefect of Essonne calls municipal elections in this city after a series of resignations

The inhabitants of Saintry-sur-Seine (Essonne) will return to the polls to elect a new municipal team and, in fact, a new mayor. Thursday October 3, 2024. Frédérique Camilleri, the prefect of Essonne, indicated in a press release that it accepted the resignation of 11 elected of municipal council, including the one mayor of the city, Patrick Rauscher and defined the date of the new elections municipal.

Elected officials who resigned in solidarity with the mayor

On September 10, during a public meeting, ten elected from the majority had announced that they were proposing their resignation from the municipal council in solidarity with Mayor Patrick Rauscher who did the same last June.

Announcements that the eleven elected officials put into action. On September 30, the prefecture received the resignation letter from Patrick Rauscher, as well as from two of his deputies and eight municipal councilors.

Municipal elections will take place on December 1 and 8

In application of article L-258 of the electoral code which provides that “when the municipal council has lost, as a result of vacancies, a third or more of its members, (…) it is, within the time limit 3 months from the date of the last vacancy, held complementary elections”, new elections must be organized.

These will take place on December 1 for the first round, and December 8 for the second round if applicable.
