16 cats in poor condition found in a “house of horror” in Gironde

They were hungry and sick. According to Vénus, a Bordeaux association for the protection and defense of animals, it is in a real “house of horror” that several cats were seized last weekend. During an intervention by the gendarmerie in a legal breeding facility in Queyrac (Gironde), around fifteen cats were taken in and one feline was found dead.

“The closed-air horror”

As soon as the gendarmes and members of the association entered the scene, the cats “rushed towards the gates, with looks of Christ on the cross, hungry, desperate”says Didier Talou-Blanchard. Some were caught with hands but others “with landing nets”because of their condition. “Diarrheal stools distributed everywhere, horror in the open air”deplores the defender of the animal cause. A decomposing corpse was also removed.

These animals, which threw themselves on the food brought to them by the volunteers, had “watery eyes, dull coats”were cachectic – emaciated due to undernutrition – and suffered from coryza and various infections at more or less advanced stages. The manager of this breeding was interviewed by the gendarmerie and handed over her cats to the Vénus association, which will now be responsible for having them treated.
