It’s a tradition for years now: Melun celebrates his brie. An event that comes back every year in the streets of city ​​prefecture with animations, and farmers market et artisans as well as different notable moments. We take stock of the 2024 edition.

The return of celebrations

This is the Saturday October 5, 2024 that Melun will vibrate for its cheese emblematic, by transforming itself “into a real gastronomic theater“, indicates the town hall. This edition will take place in parallel of 30 years anniversary of the Brotherhood of the Knights of Brie of Melun.

A part will take place on Saint-Etienne Island with animations next to a traveling farm on the banks of the Seine. The brotherhood’s anniversary

Beyond the importance of this event in the eyes of the Brotherhood, it is also an anniversary which marks three decades of existence. If the brotherhood parades and the opening of the competition for the best brie in Melun are the usual elements of these cheese celebrations, some new things could be added.

This is the case for induction planned at the Priory Saint-Sauveur: “The Brotherhood will induct for the first time children inasmuch as Pages. This unique event symbolizes the transmission of culinary heritage to the new generations of Melun, emphasizing the importance of continue traditions with youth”, supports the town hall.
