Digital capital shows its colors

During its official launch which took place a little earlier this week, Digital Capital announced the holding of two new events aimed at bringing together the digital community of Quebec. It was also an opportunity for the organization to show its colors and assert an identity that is distinct from its predecessor Québec digital.

Founded last July, Digital Capital in some way takes up the mission of Québec régional, namely that of encouraging the development of technological companies in Québec and energizing the digital community.

In mid-June, Québec digital ended its activities, thereby upsetting the entire digital community of Québec. “Quickly, the team fell into “we save the projects” mode,” explains Carole-Ann Labrie, then project manager at Québec régional.

Carole-Ann Labrie, Jonathan Parent and Jean-Philippe Bonneau then co-founded Digital Capital with the aim of taking over two flagship events run by Québec régional: La Semaine numériQc (SNQC) and Web à Québec (WAQ). However, the three directors and co-founders were unable to move forward with the project. “The two events had to be handed over and handed over to the heritage of Digital Quebec,” specifies Carole-Ann Labrie.

An improved formula

Digital Capital will hold two events which will take place at the Port of Quebec cruise terminal in the spring of 2025. Interface-Québec and The digital meeting will be in some way an improved and redesigned formula of the SNQC and the WAQ.

“We want to show that Digital Capital is not a copy of Digital Quebec. The announcement of these two events is the best time to make this cut,” specifies Carole-Ann Labrie

Three co-creation workshops will take place in the coming months to take the pulse of the digital community and further clarify the purpose of the two events. These consultative approaches will also make it possible to better define the general areas of action of the organization. More than 30 volunteers are currently involved.

From May 27 to 29, Interface – Quebec will offer networking opportunities and moments dedicated to celebrating digital professions. Aimed at professionals in the field, “those who create digital technology”, the event is intended to be relaxed and festive, explains Ms. Labrie. Conferences on case studies, team working methods and the latest trends will also take place.

The digital meeting, presented from April 8 to 10, will be aimed more at business leaders and managers from the Quebec business community. The proposed conferences will focus, among other things, on artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and sustainable development. Participants will also be able to take advantage of networking spaces to build links within the community.

A very real need

Asked about the need to come together and discuss for companies in the technology sector, Carole-Ann Labrie notes that they are glaring.

“The cessation of Quebec digital activities has created a huge void. We felt a wave of support which motivated the creation of Digital Capital. It really made us understand that there is a need, that people want to meet in Quebec,” she concludes.

More information on the organization and upcoming events can be found on the Capitale digital Facebook page.
