Dozens of college students would not have enough to eat in this canteen

Parents of students at a college in Châtillon (Hauts-de-Seine) denounced a lack of food in the canteen of the Paul Éluard college in Châtillon (Hauts-de-Seine). Of the 400 teenagers eating in the refectory every lunchtime, between 20 and 40 would not have a full meal, assured Lucie Mondoulet, of the Federation of Parents’ Councils (FCPE) of the establishment, cited by 3 Ile-de-France this Tuesday.

“Children sometimes find themselves with a tray without a main course, or without a starter, without a dessert,” she explained. This is particularly the case for half-boarders coming for the second service. In addition to quantity problems, families also pointed out the quality of the food. They were joined by the city’s PS mayor Nadège Azza.

The service provider responds

The department was alerted to the breaches of their obligations by the service providers in charge of the canteen. The community highlighted difficulties in predicting the number of lunches to be served due to registrations being spread out over the entire month of September. The service provider also explained that there was “a time of adaptation” necessary and affirmed that the menus “meet official nutritional requirements”.
