Sunday, September 29, 2024, in the afternoon, the police in Bernay (Eure) noticed a vehicle committing an infraction of the Highway Code. A patrol arrives and asks the vehicle to stop in order to carry out a check.

Victims of a mechanical problem
The two men on board refused to stop and stormed off. They embark on an axis which takes them near Orbec (Calvados), in the Pays d’Auge. But a mechanical problem forced them to stop, near the Orbiquet river.
They then tried to flee on foot, but were quickly arrested by the Psig (Gendarmerie surveillance and intervention platoon) from Lisieux. They were handed over to the Bernay gendarmes for the continuation of the procedure.
The driver of the vehicle, originally from Andelys in Eure, was born in 1982. His passenger, also a man, was born in 1970 and originally from Orbec. According to our colleagues from L’Éveil normand, both were under the influence of drugs and the driver no longer had his driving license.
