Radio ’s musical groups rewarded at the Gramophone Classical Music Awards 2024

Kaija Saariaho’s record, carried by the musical groups of Radio , was released at the beginning of February 2024 under the Festival Présences-Radio France label. This collection is the discographic echo of the Présences Festival and the commissioning and creation activity of Radio France. Supported by the musical groups of Radio France, the Festival celebrates each year a figure of musical creation of our time. The 2017 edition was that of Kaija Saariaho, Finnish composer (1952-2023).

This disc recorded in concert in February 2017 and June 2022 brings together four works by Kaija Saariaho:

  • Shadows of the Earth
    Olivier Latry, organ / Radio France Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Ernest Martinez-Izquierdo.
  • Soul Castle
    Faustine de Monès, soprano / Franck Villard, choirmaster / Members of the Choir of Radio France: S. Breton, S. Dewald, A. Jobic, T. Martynova, J. Nemer, E. Salmon, I. Trehout-Williams and B. Vignudelli / Orchestra Philharmonique de Radio France, direction Hannu Lintu.
  • True Fire
    Davóne Tines, baritone / Orchester National de France, conductor Olari Elts.
  • Offering
    Anssi Karttunen, violoncello / Olivier Latry, organ.
