The fire only affected stored covering and some vegetation, but the response required dozens of firefighters, a pumper, a tanker truck and an officer vehicle. “We don’t know what caused the fire. explains Sergeant Michaël Robert, from the Hesbaye rescue zone, but it caught on quickly. It was also quickly brought under control.”
Municipal nursery: “We still had a lot of stress”
The neighboring municipal nursery did not have time to open its doors to families. “There were two childcare workers in the crèche and as soon as the fire started, we contacted the families via our application to tell them not to come. And fortunately, there were no children in the crèche when the fire caught. We still had a lot of stress.”confides the head of the crèche, Emilie Focant.
At the time of writing these lines, the nursery is still closed, “because we fear that there are still toxic fumes in the air”. But some parents were able to count on the Lantremange crèche to help them out. “We probably won’t reopen until tomorrow.”
Moreover, Sergeant Michaël Robert advises residents close to a fire “to close doors and windows when they see smoke as black as that which emerged this morning at the stadium”.
