Béatrice Lamarche and Konos Technologies rewarded

It’s Tuesday 1is October which took place on the 26the Forces AVENIR gala at the Capitole de Québec, during which members of the University community distinguished themselves.

Registered for a master’s degree in administration sciences and a DESS in equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI) in organizations, Béatrice Lamarche is a student-athlete of the Rouge et Or volleyball club.

She was the instigator of several EDI initiatives such as a tribute match to the First Peoples, a Women’s Sports Week as well as the EDI sweater project, which allowed some 600 people to wear a sweater bearing the slogan “Together in diversity”

Béatrice Lamarche has also participated in humanitarian initiatives in her community such as the collection of foodstuffs for the Table du pain as well as cosmetics and personal hygiene products for the NPO Vide ta sacoche, of which she is an ambassador, which helps to women in vulnerable situations.

The one who occupies the functions of co-captain, captain on the field and peer support within her volleyball team also found the time to act as vice-president of communications for the Association de la Simulation francophone des Nations United at Laval University in 2023.

The Forces AVENIR 2 Personality Prizee et 3e cycles comes with a $4,000 scholarship.

Konos Technologies, Forces AVENIR + winner

An emerging company with the ambition to make its mark in the field of road signaling, Konos Technologies is the fruit of the creativity of four undergraduate students in mechanical engineering: Louis-Charles Baillargeon, Justin Couturier, Jonathan Gauvin and Philippe St-Laurent .

Their company offers an automated solution for installing, removing and moving cones used on construction sites, maneuvers that can pose a danger to workers and result in high labor costs. Their project having now reached the commercialization stage, the young entrepreneurs plan to market their product by the end of 2024, as well as an expansion into the Canadian and American market in the short term.

Konos Technologies was awarded a $5,000 grant with the possibility of renewing this funding for a second year, for a total of $10,000.

The co-founders of Konos Technologies, during their appearance at the 2023-2024 Student Life Gala, when they were winners in the Science and Technology Projects category. On this occasion, they were also named among the finalists of Laval University on the 26e Forces AVENIR gala.

Other people and projects were among the finalists for the Forces AVENIR 2024 gala, a distinction accompanied by a $2,000 grant.

L’Hôpital des nonours Université Laval, an awareness-raising activity about the health system for children aged 4 to 6 years led by students from the Faculty of Medicine, was a finalist in the Health and healthy lifestyle project category. Kelly Godbout, doctoral student in molecular medicine, was in the running for the Forces AVENIR 2 Personality prizee et 3e cycles as well as Martin Dubé, lecturer at the Faculty of Administrative Sciences, for the Engaged Personnel prize.
