Aliou Cissé is no longer the coach of Senegal

Having expired, the Senegalese technician’s contract was not renewed by the Minister of Sports, Khady Diéne Gaye. It mentions, among other things, the non-achievement of the objectives assigned within the framework of the renewal contract signed on November 7, 2022 which expired on August 31, 2024, that is to say the coronation at the previous CAN in Côte d’ Ivory and qualification for the quarter-finals of the 2022 World Cup.

At the CAN, last January, Senegal was stopped in the round of 16 by the host country and was eliminated at the same phase, beaten by England 3-0, during the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. Khady Diéne Gaye also talks about the regression of the national team in the Fifa rankings and the risk of disaffection between the national team and the Senegalese.

Arriving at the head of the Lions of Teranga in 2015, Aliou Cissé has a total of 70 victories, 24 draws and 13 defeats. He won the CAN 2021 and was a finalist during the CAN 2019 won by Algeria. The Senegalese Football Federation will have to put in place an interim staff for the management of the double confrontation against Malawi on October 11 in Dakar and October 15 in Lilongwe as part of the CAN 2025 qualifiers in Morocco.
