Where are the water resources in Hérault?

The recent rains have been good. They made it possible to “maintain, but in a heterogeneous manner, the level of watercourses, particularly in the east of the department” indicates the Hérault water resources monitoring committee, whose last monthly meeting was held on September 26. It is noted that the level of certain groundwater tables “also continues to stabilize (Astian tablecloth and Castries tablecloth)”. On the other hand, the situation watercourses and alluvial layers remains tense in certain sectorsparticularly in the watershed of the Orb aval and the Cesse.

In view of these elements, the weather forecasts and in line with the decisions of neighboring departments, the prefect of Hérault has decided:

maintaining a crisis (red level) of the watersheds of the Orb aval, the Aude aval Berre-Rieu, the Argent double Ognon and the Cesse

maintaining heightened alert (orange level) watersheds of the Orb upstream and the Canal du Midi

downgrading to enhanced alert of the Jaur watershed

maintaining alert (yellow level) of the Hérault aval watershed

• maintaining vigilance (grisi level) of the watersheds of Vidourle, Or, Lez-Mosson, Hérault upstream, Lergue, the supported Lez axis, the Castries molasses layer and of the Astian tablecloth

• the passage into vigilance of the Orb axis supported upstream

the retrograde in vigilance of the Orb axis supported downstream

maintaining the absence of restrictions on the Agout and upstream Thoré watersheds.
