20 years of twinning between Condé-en-Normandie (Calvados) and the German town of Elsenfeld are getting ready. The Germans will come to discover Norman traditions and customs for 4 days starting on Thursday October 3, 2024. The twinning committee indicated that half of this group ofaround thirty people would be young people.
A program with little onions
Thursday will be dedicated to discovering Condé, the market and the museum, as well as historical traces in the city. Football training will be offered to young German footballers in the afternoon.
Friday will be devoted to discovering the mining past of Saint-Clair-de-Halouze and surrounding areas with the collaboration of the writer Christian Jenvrin. In the evening, the young German footballers will meet their French counterparts for a friendly match.
Highlights of the trip
The highlight of the exchange will be the celebration of 20 years of twinning around the Maurice-Piard Park kiosk, with the official part at 11 a.m., followed by a local meal (cakes, sausages) with the contribution of the festival committee, Condé football and the city’s technical services.
At 2 p.m., the La Loure association will have the partners sing and dance according to Norman traditions. The afternoon will end with games (pétanque, puck, mölkky), participants will bring their own cutlery for the meal and their games.
A project supported by the Franco-German citizen fund
The project is supported by the municipality of Condé-en-Normandie, the department of Calvados and the Franco-German Citizen Fund: the Franco-German Citizen Fund advises, networks and finances projects that highlight Franco-German friendship and Europe. It supports projects of all sizes with varied themes and formats and is aimed at all actors in civil society.
