Thursday September 19, members of the city council de Parmain (Val-d’Oise) have adopted an increase in the housing tax on second homes and other movable premises not intended for housing. It will take effect on January 1, 2025. By increasing the municipal share, set at 21.77%, by 60%, the City hopes to recover €38,809.55.

Prioritize the Parmineis

Since 2023, this provision has been launched by the government to allow certain cities to fight against difficulty finding accommodation. “Parmain is one of the cities experiencing tension in the residential real estate market,” explains Loïc Taillanter (Se), mayor of the city. »

“This increase is based on two axes: on the one hand, encouraging owners to put their properties back on the market to combat the housing shortage. On the other hand, it rebalances the mechanics of the housing supply in Parmain. We realized that in 2023, there would be 130 second homes. In a population of 6,000 inhabitants, this is quite significant. Whereas in 2021, there were only 89.”

Voted unanimously

The objective is: “ to favor main residences to be able to accommodate the inhabitants of our territory as much as possible.

According to the elected official, the difficulties of couples finding accommodation in the city have “a serious impact on school attendance at some of our primary schools, notably at Louise de Bettignies and Marie-Marvingt”.

Loïc Taillanter makes no secret of it: “For me, the Parmineis who bring the city to life must be priority. »

“Nearly half of the municipalities eligible for this surcharge have already applied it,” adds the mayor. In the ranks of the opposition, the project does not raise any real objections.

Except for a few questionsincluding that of Sébastien Guérineau, asking how much this increase represents for an owner. A request to which the majority did not know how to answer, explaining that it depends on the cases.

Despite this, the proposal was adopted atunanimity.
