Municipal elections: in Mons, Nicolas Martin (PS) speaks out on a possible alliance with Georges-Louis Bouchez

The mayor on leave of Mons, Nicolas Martin (PS), does not intend to make an alliance with the Mons list led by the president of the MR, Georges-Louis Bouchez, he announced on Monday.

“The people of Mont have the choice between two radically different and incompatible projects. Georges-Louis Bouchez and I do not have the same vision for the future of Mons. I refuse to ally myself with someone who, for years , is determined to demolish the image of our city throughout the country and who wants to wipe out six years of hard work to revitalize the city”, declared Mr. Martin, first candidate on the Mayor’s List, in a press release.

The socialist, who currently sits in the Walloon parliament, lists the reasons why he refuses this alliance: policy in terms of town planning, security but also personal behavior judged “aggressive, contemptuous and divisive”.

“Whether in substance or in form, not to mention his incessant insults and his inability to adopt behavior worthy of the function, it is simply impossible for me to collaborate with such a character”a conclu M. Martin.

This Monday; Mr. Bouchez said he was ready, if necessary, to form a coalition with the PS to lead the city of Doudou the day after the elections of October 13.

“I have no exclusivity towards a democratic party, so I can very well form a coalition with the PS”, indicated the president of the MR at the microphone of Matin Première (RTBF).

“But my goal is to be able to change the way in which Mons politics is conducted. So we will have to make important reforms in the management of the city,” he added.
