Friborg police are investigating the fire of several army vehicles.Keystone

A motorcyclist who fled from police may be involved in the torching of several army vehicles. Criminal proceedings have been opened by the Friborg police.

Several homemade incendiary devices were found overnight from Sunday to Monday in Courtepin (FR) at the home of a motorcyclist who had fled the police. Early in the morning, police noted that several army vehicles had been burned in Grolley. The two cases could be linked.

This night, shortly after 3:30 a.m., during a patrol, the police wanted to check a motorcyclist, who fled and forced a police blockade:

“The searches undertaken made it possible to find the motorcycle and arrest the fugitive in the village. The motorcyclist, aged 28, was taken to the police station and placed under provisional arrest.

I contacted the police.

During the search of his home, the police found several homemade incendiary devices. Various specialists were alerted and engaged, notably EDM (neutralization, removal, destruction of explosives) of the Vaud cantonal police. At the same time, buildings were preemptively evacuated and nine people were taken into care.

Later in the morning, the cantonal police were informed that several army vehicles had been damaged by fire in Grolley, at the army logistics center (CLA). “Most likely, these cases are linked”said the police.

The population is not in danger. Criminal proceedings have been opened by the Friborg Public Prosecutor’s Office. (sda/ats)
