An individual armed with a knife was apprehended after breaking the windows of the Moroccan embassy in Stockholm and hanging a rainbow flag from a window, Swedish police announced. The incident, which occurred on Monday, also resulted in injuries to a passerby.
According to the Swedish daily “Aftonbladet”, the man had taken refuge in a room in the embassy when the police intervened. The motivations for this act remain unknown for the moment, the police said in a press release.
The individual, whose identity has not yet been released, is charged with burglary, aggravated vandalism and bodily injury. Shards of glass did indeed injure a passerby, although his injuries were not considered serious and he was able to treat himself on his own.
Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding this incident, seeking to understand the reasons that led this man to act in this way. The Moroccan embassy has not yet commented on the incident.
