From October 4 to 14, 2024, the Science Festival celebrates its 33e national edition, in Morbihan and chose the theme “Ocean of knowledge”. The opportunity to explore science through conferences, workshops and exhibitions for all audiences.
Inauguration in Lorient on October 4, 2024
New for this edition: off-site events will take place in cafes and public places, notably in La Gacilly, Guer and Guégon. The objective is to make science more accessible to small communities.
The inauguration night will take place Friday October 4, from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m., at the Faculty of Sciences of Lorient. The public will be able to meet scientists, participate in interactive workshops and discover new technologies such as virtual reality headsets and microbiology demonstrations. The University of South Brittany (UBS), a historic partner of the Science Festival, is supported by Mickaël Castro, vice-president of research and scientific mediation at UBS. It is the teacher-researcher Alexis Bazire who has been appointed Morbihan ambassador this year. “In Lorient, we don’t realize this annual theme, because we often talk about the sea. These are strong issues and themes for our city,” explains Annaïg Le Port, from Maison de la Mer.
The Science Festival will end in style in Vannes with a speech by Valérie Masson-Delmotte, world-renowned climatologist.
A varied program
More than forty university actions will be offered, with varied themes such as energy, robotics, cybersecurity and even environmental preservation.
