XWV – For its entry into the running, was crushed by Canada

At BC Place Stadium, as part of the 1st day of the XWV, was not able to control the density of Canada (46-24). A first slap synonymous with a third setback in a row in all competitions.

Under the Vancouver sun, France had a double objective: to ideally launch this competition and thus take 3rd place in the world rankings from Canada. Despite a significant burst of energy, the Blues did not go the distance against the host country of this competition.

The Feleu squad, worn out by the pace imposed throughout this part, suffered at the end of each period. Turning points which increased the score quite significantly in favor of Canada (46-24). Thanks to four tries, the Blues still gleaned an offensive bonus for the ranking. Currently, England, thanks to its great success against the United States (61-21), dominates the competition.

France was caught in the heart of the rucks

At home, Canada put strong entry pressure on the Blues, thanks in particular to the speed of the three-quarter line. In the center of the field, Seumanutafa took advantage of an unbalanced duel against the second line Fall to break the French defensive curtain before freeing his arms for Farries (7-0, 6th). This was the start of the chase. The pack of French forwards tightened the opposing defense with a carried maul, then Queyroi went to look for Jacquet on the outside. On one step, the rear released Llorens (7-7, 11th). To you, to me.

And Canada, not disconcerted by the French reaction, scored a try in blackboard mode. The scrum, on the French 22 meters, served as a launching pad. In the center of the field, the center Tessier served the winger Bermudez inside. The latter took advantage of a break between Gros and Bourdon Sansus to slip between the posts (14-7, 24th). When Canada was in action, France was in reaction. Queyroi sounded the revolt. The opening half, well placed to cover a kick over Tessier, found a superb 50:22. Clever, she quickly recovered possession to quickly play the touchline with Marine Ménager (14-14 , 28th).

But, struggling against the volume of play from Canada, France was asphyxiated in the last five minutes of the end of the first period. Marine Ménager’s partners were particularly in difficulty around the rucks, leaving boulevards to the opposing forwards. In one of these situations, second line Laetitia Royer jumped over a group to flatten with her fingertips (19-14, 34th). Put under pressure following a direct touch from Jacquet, France gave in again to the talent of Francy Bermudez. Shifted in her lane, the winger resisted Jacquet to score a double (24-14, 37th).

Kondé saved honor

Returning from the locker room, Pauline Bourdon Sansus gave hope to her teammates. Behind a long-delicate scrum in this part, the scrum-half was able to pick up the ball before making the difference thanks to a relay and a pass behind Vernier’s back. A superb first-hand achievement (24-19, 42nd). Unfortunately, the Blues once again forgot to properly lock the ruck edges. Diabolical, Royer, elected lady of the match, imitated Bermudez (31-19, 52nd).

Behind a courageous Vernier in the center of the field, the Blues were able to snatch an offensive bonus. Following two well-inspired relays from Fall and Romane Ménager, the player broke through twenty meters. In the advance, Kondé finished in a corner (31-24, 59th). In the money-time, France was not able to make Canada doubt. In force, the hooker Tuttosi (38-24, 68th) and the winger Hogan-Rochester buried the French hopes (46-24, 80th + 2). On October 5, France will have to take revenge against the United States to stop this negative spiral.
