Policy. In Morbihan, the MoDem tries to show unity and say “no”

The MoDem organized its back-to-school university this weekend, in Morbihan. After the internal tensions around participation in Michel Barnier’s government, it was time for unity this Sunday for François Bayrou’s party, gathered in the seaside town of Guidel. Unusual fact: with the exception of the three party ministers, no member of the government made the trip.

Cazeneuve as guest

In its place, a former socialist Prime Minister: Bernard Cazeneuve, whom the MoDem has long supported for Matignon. Support welcomed by the person concerned and which he “did not find in the entire political class, including, sometimes, where I could expect it”, he said in reference to his former socialist comrades.

“We will no longer accept being the vassals of anyone,” warned Marc Fesneau, vowing to “say no” as the MoDem has “not done it in a certain way for a long time”. But despite the unity displayed, the decision to support a Barnier government, marked on the right, left its mark on the MoDem.
