In , Journey extends the codes of coffee shop to street food

In , the new Journey coffee shop also offers cocktails and a wide food offering.

In the 2th district of Paris, rue des Petits Carreaux, the vast storefront of Journey invites you to discover the new life of a large commercial premises now devoted to a new kind of coffee shop. Not a tea room just dedicated to coffee, but a place that mixes drinks and street food throughout the day, from 9 a.m. to midnight, around a menu that mixes dishes, cocktails, coffee, beer, as well as twenty references of wines and champagnes.

Grilled cheese

“We can come all day for the whole menu”specifies Léo Quedillac, the director of Journey, who comes from a long career in restaurants and bars. From the outset, we are seduced by the comfort food offering, with a crush on the incredibly comforting grilled cheese. Its ingredients: ham, Beaufort, shiitake. A hot sandwich designed in the spirit of a croque-monsieur, with country bread which brings density to the whole, and a marked contrast between the toasted side of the bread and the softness of the snack. The Beaufort brings character, without confusing those accustomed to Emmental or cheddar. The ham is finely cut; the mushrooms, for their part, are in the background. The price nevertheless remained high (15 euros).

Cookies

Impossible to miss the very generous cocoa cookie, avoiding the adjective “small” heard in the restaurant, with whipped cream on the side. The peanut pieces add deliciousness, making this dessert truly regressive.

Surprising cocktails

Sparkling flowers

As for cocktails, focus on Fleurs pétillants, a long drink (14 euros) made with pisco, hibiscus, rose water, verjuice, rhubarb and jasmine. The cocktail is the softest and sweetest on the menu. The nose is round, focused on hibiscus and rhubarb. The mouthfeel is very watery and dry at first. A slight bitterness arrives afterwards. The pisco remains discreet. Citrus notes slowly diffuse.

Pear

For its part, the Pear cocktail is more divisive. The cocktail, based on pear brandy infused with tarragon, tonic, Fenouillette de Brive aperitif and verjuice, has a nice length in the mouth, but can really surprise with its vegetal dimension. The nose is quite neutral, while the flavors of fennel are very heightened. In addition, the beer available at Journey is supplied by the Val-de-Marnaise brewery Deck & Donohue.

Journey, which required four months of work, has seven people, and will soon benefit from a cozy basement, suitable for privatizations, as well as a mezzanine. As the establishment does not have an IV license, it is necessary to order a dish to access the alcoholic offering.
