La Courneuve (Seine-Saint-Denis) inaugurated, Friday September 20, 2024, its new heritage reserves. Installed in the Jean-Houdremont cultural center, they bring together the collections archaeological, ethnographies et contemporary art of the city. The space is accessible to the public during guided tours. Until now, these reserves were inaccessible to the public due to conservation conditions deemed “unsuitable”.
New conservation conditions
“Now preserved and accessible to the public, these collections will help transform views of this often little-known Courneuvian territory,” rejoices the city in a press release. These new reserves should be enriched in the coming weeks “from thematic notes on the history of the territory, the remarkable buildings and the archaeological collections”.
Visitors will be able to discover them in two distinct spaces: the one dedicated to collections works of art and space for agricultural collections. The first are composed of sculptures, paintings, tapestries, mosaics, drawings, prints and photographs collected since 1960. That of the agricultural collections brings together 2,200 objects recounting daily life at the beginning of the 20th century in the Plaine des Vertus, between Bobigny and Saint-Denis.
“The equipment is designed to make it possible to implement visits for small groups only,” specifies the city. They will be organized by the Department of Cultural Affairs, once a month.
